ANNOUNCEMENTS: The Velvet Room and a Call for Help!
Hello, Caligans! A few updates and announcements, one concerning the opening of the Velvet Room, and the other a call for able-handed people who love the game and want to be a part of making it better!
The Velvet Room
As you may have noticed on the calendar, on tomorrow's day change the Velvet Room will be making itself available for entry in the shopping district, as well as inside the TV World for those who are able to venture inside. The Velvet Room is a special room located between the realms of the conscious and subconscious wherein Wild Card Persona users are able to fuse Personas. In the later two Persona games, it also serves as a vague sort of plot device indicating to Wild Card Persona users that they are meant for something extraordinary and that their decisions and actions will no doubt effect their fates and the fates of everyone around them, possibly even the fate of the world.
Sounds exciting, right? It is! Keep in mind that in this game, only those of the Fool Arcana will be able to access the Velvet Room's Persona fusing powers. These powers, as explained in the game's Velvet Room Page, will be strengthened considerably by the power of the Fool character's social links with others. Basically, the more CR you have with various characters of other arcana, the more powerful Personas you will be able to fuse.
Keep this in mind when deciding whether your Fool character will be given the WIld Card ability! Not all Fools are Wild Cards, but all Wild Cards must stem from Fools! From now on, in the applications there will be a reminder in the Arcana section to indicate whether or not, if the Fool Arcana is chosen, your character would be a Wild Card, but for now you must comment to the Velvet Room Access post in order for your character to be considered a Wild Card and experience The Dream and The Return to the Velvet room, explained on the Velvet Room page.
In Summary:
1. While your character sleeps between Days 14 and 15, they will experience the Velvet Room Dream.
2. When they awaken and whenever they next pass by the shopping district, they'll notice a glowing blue door that leads to the Velvet Room, and if they enter they will experience the Return dialogue with Igor.
3. Only Fool characters can sign up to be Wild Cards, and they can do so here.
4. In that same post, however, all characters from Persona 1 and Persona 2 who previously had access to the Velvet Room must also sign up in order to be given Velvet Room access. They will be introduced to the Velvet Room in the same way as every other character, through the Dream and Return outlined on the Velvet Room post.
5. For future app rounds, we will be requiring anyone who thinks their character might fit the Fool arcana to decide whether or not their Fool will also be a Wild Card right there in the application, and may ask you to briefly discuss why they would fit as a Wild Card.
6. It does not matter as of right now whether your Fool character has awakened their Persona through shaking the gas station attendant's hand or not. They can still become a Wild Card, even if they face their Shadow later in the game. This is a deviation from Persona 4 canon to some extent, but it allows for the most fun to be had and therefore canon will be tweaked for that purpose.
If you have any questions beyond that, please feel free to ask them here.
Call for Help
As mentioned back in the HMD comment for us mods, things have been a little hectic behind the scenes. Some of us ended up biting off more than we could chew when it comes to helping run this game. It got off the ground just fine, thankfully, but in order to keep things going efficiently, some changes will be necessary.
Daemyn has decided to step down, as well, but in contrast to Aly, who is still around updating lists and activity check spreadsheets behind the scenes, Daemyn finds that he does not have the time to contribute much to modding the game other than ideas. He's a great ideas man, that much is obvious - this entire game would not exist if not for Daemyn's initial idea. I know I will be going back and asking him for plot ideas, but beyond that he has decided to resign completely from mod duties.
In addition, Lock's recent hiatus has meant that she has had little time to help out as well, beyond a little app reviewing. I still need to find a way to get in contact with her and ask if she'd still like to mod, but as of right now I, Missa, am holding the game up on my shoulders with a little help from Aly, sort of like Atlas bearing the burden of the world on his.
In short, we need help! We need at least one or possibly two current players who have a deep love for this game and an even deeper desire to see it succeed. We need people willing and able to sacrifice around 30 minutes of their day -- often less, sometimes more during application processing -- to join the mod team.
Some duties you'll be expected to help out with:
Phew! There are other things as well, like reorganizing the FAQ page and keeping it up to date, but in general these are the big, on-going things that you'll have to deal with on a regular basis as a mod.
If, for some reason, you're still interested in giving a helping hand and becoming a mod, please drop me a line at the mod email: percaligovideo@gmail.com. Please put MOD APPLICATION in the subject line!
Some things I'll want to know in the email are the following:
I'll be looking these emails over as they come in andbegging pimping this post out until I have enough mod applications to feel comfortable making a decision.
I won't lie - modding this game is a lot of work. It's a commitment. But I find that, at least for me, it's been rewarding. I came into this as a member of the app team, reviewing applications during the first round. Upon getting full mod duties, I had little to no idea what I was even doing, but as the situation became sink or swim - either I swam, or the game would sink - you better believe I doggy-paddled like crazy. I know things haven't been going perfectly, but they're still going and I, for one, am proud of the game and community we've created thus far.
I hope the game continues to be a place players feel has potential. And I desperately believe that the game will become a place that lives up to its potential, a place where players can have fun and explore different sides to their characters via their Shadows, maxed social links with their friends, and more!
Questions regarding submitting mod applications can go here, if anyone has any!

We need people willing and able to sacrifice around 30 minutes of their day -- often less, sometimes more during application processing -- to join the mod team.
Some duties you'll be expected to help out with:
1. Day change posts. Mostly, this involves referencing the game's calendar for weather and upcoming plot stuff. I find them pretty fun to write, myself. Usually I try to get them out between 1 and 5 pm EST, but there are times I'll be at work and will have to trust someone else to post them for me.
2. App processing. Just what it sounds like. This can be one of the more stressful things, but it's less so when there are at least 2-3 people available to share the burden with. This past round, we had over thirty applications. Split between 2-3 people and reviewing over the course of a week, it isn't that bad, and even if there are more in future rounds we will be well prepared if there are enough of us. You should be comfortable with objectively reviewing applications of characters from fandoms you know intimately as well as ones that you may have never even heard of.
3. Drafting plot posts and coming up with plot ideas. Brainstorming. Three heads are always going to be better than one! For this duty, applicants who are familiar with Persona 3 and Persona 4 canon would be preferable.
4. Answering questions. This is a big thing. Players ask questions in the FAQ, in the suggestions page, via PM and via email on a regular basis. There are also replies to be made to concrit given to us on the HMD. Preferably, every questions should be answered within 24 hours, but between administrative mod work and everything else, I have been falling behind with this and would appreciate having someone to share the burden with who will not shy away from players and their questions. A professional, respectful, and helpful demeanor is necessary for this duty.
5. Lists and administrative stuff. Mostly, this is what Aly has been helping with. It involves replying to reserves, updating reserves and taken pages, keeping track of players' activity checks, letting characters into the communities during app time and processing drops. Aly has been a great help with this, but if for whatever reason she's unavailable to help out, extra help with these duties would be appreciated as well.
6. Finally,. calendar and event planning. This goes hand in hand with drafting up plots and plot posts, but deserves its own point as well. So much in this game relies on the calendar of events and making sure players know when to expect plots, big and small. Mostly for this I need a second opinion - is there too much space between one plot and another? Too little? Does this weather pattern make sense? Did I completely forget an important Japanese holiday? Things like that!

Some things I'll want to know in the email are the following:
1. Who are you? Who do you play? Your name/handle, and the characters you play here atpercaligovideo.
2. Do you have previous mod experience? If so, where? Note that this isn't necessary, but may give you an edge if you do have it.
3. Are you familiar with Persona canon? Which games have you played? Again, not necessary to become a mod, but this will give you a HUGE edge.
4. Which of the duties listed above would you be most comfortable helping out with? I don't expect anyone to do all of them! Pick about two, maybe three at max, and we'll work from there.
5. Be realistic, will you have time? Be honest! Consider all your other obligations: school, work, other RPs, family responsibilities. I'm not asking for you to dedicate yourself to this like it's a full time job, but keep in mind that if you can't see yourself dedicating around 30 minutes a day into this, and more during application reviewing (if that's a thing you're interested in helping with!), this may not be something you want to get involved with.
